Attorneys says link the PV fire and other arson case

Attorney Nick Alcock on the Shapiro case in Arizona

attorneysThis case just gets more gruesome every day.  Phoenix attorneys are now reporting that there is a definite connection between the horrible deaths of Paradise Valley residents and another murder/arson case.  Prosecutors are saying that the connection extends to property controlled by Brittany Beinhauer.  Apparently, she had property that belonged to Lawrence and Glenna Shapiro.  She also had property that belonged to Bruce Gaudet, who was found dead in his burned residence.

This is just an awful case that makes you think about how vulnerable you are.  If a drug-addicted lunatic wants to target you, there is probably little that you can do.

I have spoken to peopl who knew the Shapiros.  Apparently they were incredibly kind and generous people.  Nobody deserves what happened to them.  But in particular, they did not deserve what happened to them.

As a criminal defense attorney, I will be following this story closely.  I am curious to see what type of plea offers (if any) are made for the individuals who controlled the stolen property.  My guess is that the attorneys will seek the absolute maximum.  In a way, it is unfair to punish them for the singular acts of a madman.  However, in the law as in life, you reap what you sow.

I also wonder what other crimes will be linked to the defendants in these two cases.  I would be shocked if there were just two cases.  If the police do their jobs, you will see many more charges filed against this crew.
