David Black brings a fierce desire for justice and the defense of individual liberties and constitutional rights to Alcock & Associates. His road began locally at Arizona State University, where he majored in Justice Studies and graduated summa cum laude. In his college years, Mr. Black worked as a writer and was selected to teach the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) by two national test preparation companies.

Mr. Black studied law at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he became versed in a broad variety of legal topics. His true passion was Criminal Law, however, and it was in that area that he chose to focus. While in law school, Mr. Black trained as both a prosecutor and defense attorney, handling juvenile and adult felony matters in Los Angeles and in Arizona.

Upon graduation, Mr. Black accepted a position at the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. As a Deputy County Attorney, Mr. Black handled a variety of matters. His experience there equipped him to handle the vast spectrum of criminal matters, from misdemeanor DUI to adult major felonies, which he now defends.

When Mr. Black left the prosecutor’s office and came to Alcock & Associates, he joined a group of elite defense attorneys, many of whom he had practiced with as a prosecutor. At Alcock & Associates, Mr. Black has focuses exclusively on criminal defense litigation. He has handled all types of felony cases.

Since joining the firm, Mr. Black has had dismissals of all types of cases, including recent dismissals of felony DUI, Possession of Narcotic Drugs, Possession of Marijuana, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm at an Occupied Structure, and many more. He prides himself on understanding the interests of his clients and working with them to achieve their goals.
