Gilbert Municipal court is a court of lower jurisdiction in the East Valley of Maricopa County. They are authorized to hear misdemeanor criminal and civil matters arising from incidents that occur within the city limits. Gilbert officers are deputized to handle arrests throughout the State of Arizona, however.
Criminal cases that are heard in Gilbert Municipal court include assault, criminal damage, domestic violence, DUI, theft, disorderly conduct and trespassing offenses. Class 1 misdemeanors, the highest level of offense that is handled by this court, carry with them a maximum penalty of six months in jail.
