Fountain Hills Municipal Court is a court of lower jurisdiction. The court is authorized to hear civil traffic offenses and misdemeanor criminal defense matters. In Arizona, there are three levels of misdemeanor offenses, Class 1 2 and 3. The maximum penalty for a Class 1 misdemeanor is six months in jail, however, most people convicted of such offenses do not receive this amount of jail time.
