PHOENIX POLICE OFFICER ARRESTED ON FELONY SEXUAL MISCONDUCT

Prompted by allegations he sexually assaulted two teen boys, a 13-year veteran of the Phoenix police department has resigned in lieu of termination immediately following his arrest. Ironically, the 43-year-old police veteran had been assigned to the Community Relations Bureau. Detective Christopher J. Wilson, a community action officer who was the city’s police liaison with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, and a member of the department’s confrontation squad, was arrested Tuesday night at his residence.

The police chief making the announcement said the investigation came forth due to the courageous acts of a 14-year-old male who brought the allegations to his parents, who then informed the police. The investigation later revealed that a 17-year-old male was also involved in this incident with Wilson and that relationship was three months old. The relationship with the 14-year-old was allegedly discovered to be three weeks old.

The disgraced officer allegedly met the 17-year-old through his police duties. The former Phoenix police detective reportedly met the teens as part of his work with the Community Relations Bureau. He was a liaison to the community. Wilson admitted to having an improper sexual relationship with the teen boys, but told authorities the actions were consensual. There are no allegations that force was used with either teen but this is immaterial as there is no such thing as consent when a minor is involved. The age of the victims automatically disallows consent.

Wilson has been booked into Maricopa County Jail and now faces 10 counts of sexual misconduct with a minor. Meanwhile, the police department believes there may be more victims in this case and has vowed to continue with a thorough investigation.
